about Emmaus

Since 1967, Emmaus Biblical Seminary has existed to develop Christ-like leaders for the spiritual transformation of Haiti.  Today, this means that 70 Haitian men and women, most already in full-time ministry throughout Haiti, are empowered by Emmaus...fed and cared for, trained and discipled, equipped, commissioned, partnered with and sent out, Lights in a very dark world.
The Bible makes clear that before embarking on the journey of Kingdom building, it's crucial that we understand Who He Is.  It is for this reason that our academic program is carefully designed to respond to Scripture's call for strong minds and strong hearts.
EBS offers a Bachelor's in Theology (B.TH.) (Haitian Degree Designation:License in Theology).  The B.TH. program can be completed in four years of full-time, on campus study.  Our curriculum is adapted for a 21st century Haitian context through a primary focus on Biblical Literature and Theology, including courses that cover a broad range of both Old and New Testament books as well as Historical, Biblical and Systematic Theology.
Approximately 50% of courses at EBS are Bible and Theology courses.  The secondary focus of our curriculum is ministry theory and practice, including courses such as Evangelism and Discipleship, Church Administration, Sociology, Christian Marriage and Family, etc.  The curriculum's deliberate emphasis on Bible and Theology responds to the Haitian Church's need for leaders who are able to both interpret and articulate the message of Scripture accurately.  These focuses seek to complete Biblical literacy and theological competency with ministry skills adapted for the Haitian context.
